Jacques is Global National’s connection to Parliament Hill and is the source for all federal political coverage.

As Bureau Chief, Jacques leads the most talented and versatile news team in Ottawa. He has been with Global National since its inaugural broadcast in 2001, covering federal politics for more than a decade.

The Carleton University journalism graduate has reported on every federal election campaign since 1993 – from the night Jean Chretien became Prime Minister to Stephen Harper’s move into power. He has also covered major stories such as the Oka crisis, 9/11, and the fallout from the Canadian Airborne Regiment’s deployment to Somalia for which he won a national RTNDA award.

One of his more interesting journalism experiences include driving down Highway 401 at 170 kms following an RCMP undercover officer chasing down a cigarette smuggler.

During his off hours, Jacques is a bike fanatic and enjoys racing in 24-hour mountain bike relay races. He loves spending time with his wife and children, and re-charges his batteries at a pioneer homestead he is restoring in the Madawaska Highlands.
